Introduction
Craving something rich, chocolatey, and homemade but short on time? This Southern-style 5-minute fudge, inspired by Paula Deen’s classic recipe, is your go-to dessert. Whether you're whipping up a last-minute holiday treat or simply indulging a chocolate craving, this quick fudge delivers all the flavor with minimal effort. It’s creamy, sweet, and made with just a few pantry staples.
Ingredients:
1 and 2/3 cups granulated sugar
2/3 cup evaporated milk
2 tablespoons unsalted butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 (6 oz) package semi-sweet chocolate chips
16 large marshmallows (or 1 1/2 cups mini marshmallows)
1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract
1/2 cup chopped pecans or walnuts (optional)
Instructions:
In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine sugar, evaporated milk, butter, and salt.
Stir constantly until the mixture reaches a rolling boil.
Let it boil for exactly 5 minutes while stirring, ensuring it doesn’t stick or burn.
Remove from heat and quickly add in the chocolate chips and marshmallows.
Stir until completely melted and smooth.
Mix in vanilla extract and nuts if using.
Pour the mixture into a greased 8x8-inch or 9x9-inch square pan.
Let it cool at room temperature until set, then cut into squares.
