Introduction:
Craving something bold, beefy, cheesy, and a little out of the ordinary? Meet your new obsession: Philly Cheesesteak Smash Burger Tacos. This recipe brings together the iconic flavors of a Philly cheesesteak—thinly sliced beef, caramelized onions, and gooey cheese—with the crispy, beefy goodness of a smash burger, all wrapped in a taco shell. It’s street food vibes meets comfort food classic. Whether you’re planning a party or just switching up Taco Tuesday, this fusion dish will steal the spotlight.

Ingredients:
For the tacos:

1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend preferred)

Salt and pepper, to taste

6 small flour tortillas (street taco size)

1 tbsp olive oil or butter (for frying)

For the cheesesteak filling:

1/2 lb ribeye steak or sirloin, thinly sliced

1 small yellow onion, thinly sliced

1 small green bell pepper, thinly sliced (optional)

1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

1 tbsp oil or butter for sautéing

For the cheese:

6 slices provolone cheese or American cheese

Optional: Cheez Whiz for extra authenticity

Directions:
Prep the Filling:

Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add sliced onions (and peppers if using) and cook until soft and golden.

Add the thinly sliced steak to the skillet. Season with salt, pepper, and a splash of Worcestershire sauce. Cook just until browned, then set aside.

Smash the Burgers:

Heat a large skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.

Lightly oil one side of each tortilla. Place the oiled side down on the hot skillet.

Quickly press a small ball of ground beef (about 2-3 oz) onto the center of each tortilla, smashing it thin with a spatula.

Season the beef with salt and pepper.

Cook for 2-3 minutes, then flip so the beef is on the skillet and tortilla is on top.

Immediately place a slice of cheese on top of the beef so it melts while the meat finishes cooking (about 1-2 minutes).

Assemble:

Remove tacos from the skillet.

Spoon the Philly cheesesteak filling on top of each burger taco.

Drizzle with Cheez Whiz if desired.

Serving and Storage Tips:
Serve hot right off the griddle for the ultimate cheesy-crispy experience.

Pair with fries, pickles, or a cold drink for a full-on diner-style meal.

Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat on a skillet for the best texture (avoid microwaving if possible to keep the tortillas from getting soggy).
