Introduction
If you're looking to support hair growth naturally while giving your strands the deep nourishment they deserve, this DIY Rosemary Hair Butter is your new go-to. Infused with rosemary — a powerful herb known for stimulating circulation to the scalp — this whipped butter hydrates, strengthens, and promotes healthy hair growth without synthetic ingredients. Best of all, it's easy to make and fully customizable to your hair type.
Ingredients:
1/2 cup shea butter (raw and unrefined)
2 tbsp coconut oil (virgin, cold-pressed)
2 tbsp jojoba oil (or sweet almond oil)
1 tbsp castor oil (optional, for added thickness)
15 drops rosemary essential oil
5 drops peppermint essential oil (optional for a cooling effect)
1 tsp dried rosemary leaves (optional, for infusion)
Directions:
Infuse (Optional):
If using dried rosemary leaves, combine them with the coconut oil in a heat-safe bowl. Heat gently using a double boiler or microwave in 15-second bursts until warm. Let the mixture steep for 20–30 minutes, then strain.
Melt the Butters and Oils:
In a double boiler, melt the shea butter and coconut oil together until fully liquefied. Remove from heat.
Blend and Cool:
Add the jojoba and castor oils to the melted mix. Place the bowl in the refrigerator for about 15–20 minutes until the edges start to solidify but are still soft.
Whip It Up:
Using a hand mixer, whip the mixture for 5–7 minutes until fluffy and creamy.
Add Essential Oils:
Stir in the rosemary (and peppermint, if using) essential oils.
Jar It:
Transfer the whipped hair butter to a clean, airtight glass jar or tin.
Serving and Storage Tips:
Use: Apply a small amount to your scalp and hair, focusing on the ends. Ideal as a pre-wash treatment, leave-in conditioner, or scalp massage butter.
Storage: Store in a cool, dry place. Will keep for up to 6 months.
Tip: If stored in warmer climates, keep in the fridge to maintain the whipped texture.
