Ingredients:
1 large aloe vera leaf (fresh from the plant, if possible)
1 cup water (filtered or boiled and cooled)
1 tablespoon lemon juice (optional for taste and preservation)
1–2 teaspoons honey or agave (optional sweetener)
Directions:
Harvest the Gel:
Carefully slice off the thorny edges of the aloe leaf. Cut it lengthwise and scoop out the clear gel using a spoon. Be cautious not to include the yellowish latex layer just beneath the skin—it has a bitter taste and can irritate digestion.
Rinse Thoroughly:
Place the gel in a fine mesh strainer and rinse it under cool water to remove any latex residue.
Blend the Gel:
Add the clean aloe gel to a blender along with the water. Blend until smooth and frothy. You can strain it again if you prefer a smoother texture.
Flavor It (Optional):
Add lemon juice and a bit of honey if desired. Blend for a few more seconds.
Chill & Serve:
