After just a few months of use, do you realize that the color of your pillow has turned yellowish? This can happen with sweat absorbed by the pillow fabric. To whiten it, this economical and easy to perform trick will allow you to remove these stubborn stains in no time and give it a second life.

Pillows often turn yellow due to sweat. This can happen when you use facial lotions too often or when you sleep with wet hair. To remove yellowish stains from your pillow, you only need one ingredient. The result is surprising!

So, what’s that genius trick that whitens a yellowed pillow?

Although the pillowcase protects the pillow, you may notice that the color of the pillow has turned yellow after a while, even after hand or machine washing. To give it a boost of brightness, a natural ingredient can be of great help.

Attention: Before washing your pillow, take the time to check whether it can be put in the washing machine. The shape memory model, for example, may be damaged.

To keep your pillow looking like new, you will need the following ingredients:

  • One cup of baking soda
  • Two tablespoons of homemade liquid detergent

In a bathtub filled with warm water,  pour the homemade liquid detergent and the baking soda which acts as a stain remover and whitener. Then, soak the pillow in the mixture for a few hours before scrubbing the stains. You can use baking soda alone. To do this, simply prepare a paste by mixing this ingredient with a little water. Then, apply it on the stains and leave it on for an hour. You can also wash the pillow in the washing machine using this powder.

Attention: The cushion may lose its original shape if washed in the washing machine. To avoid this inconvenience, place a tennis ball in the machine drum. This will help keep the pillow plump.
