Introduction
Maintaining dyed hair can be a delicate balance between preserving color and keeping your strands healthy. While commercial products promise shine and vibrance, they often come with harsh chemicals that can strip hair over time. Enter the clove hair rinse — a simple, all-natural remedy steeped in tradition. Known for its antioxidant and antimicrobial properties, clove not only enhances shine but can also subtly deepen darker hair tones, making it an excellent choice for those with brunette or dark-dyed hair.
Ingredients
2 tablespoons of whole cloves
2 cups of water
Optional: 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar (for extra shine)
Optional: 3–5 drops of rosemary or lavender essential oil (for fragrance and scalp benefits)
Directions
Boil the Water: In a small saucepan, bring the 2 cups of water to a boil.
Add Cloves: Once the water is boiling, add the cloves and reduce the heat. Let it simmer for 15–20 minutes.
Cool & Strain: Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool. Strain the liquid to remove the cloves.
Customize (Optional): Add apple cider vinegar and essential oils if using. Stir well.
Apply to Hair: After shampooing, pour the cooled rinse evenly over your hair. Massage it into your scalp and let it sit for 5–10 minutes before rinsing with cool water.
Serving and Storage Tips
Serving Size: This recipe makes enough for one to two uses, depending on hair length.
Storage: Store any leftover rinse in a sealed glass jar or bottle in the fridge. Use within 5–7 days for maximum freshness.
Pro Tip: Pour into a spray bottle for easy application between washes as a leave-in refresher.
