Introduction: Lemon oil is a fragrant, citrus-infused essential oil that has a wide array of applications, from enhancing your beauty routine to boosting the aroma of your home. With its refreshing scent and numerous health benefits, lemon oil is a versatile product that you can easily make at home. This natural oil is known for its cleansing, uplifting, and antimicrobial properties, making it a must-have addition to your homemade skincare, cleaning, and wellness supplies. In this article, we’ll walk you through the simple steps to create your own lemon oil and explore its various uses.

Ingredients:

Fresh lemons (2-3, preferably organic)
Carrier oil (such as olive oil, coconut oil, or jojoba oil – 1 cup)
A glass jar with a tight-fitting lid
Cheesecloth or a fine-mesh strainer
Optional: Vitamin E oil (a few drops for added preservation)
Instructions:

Prepare the Lemons: Start by thoroughly washing the lemons to remove any pesticides or wax. Using a vegetable peeler or zester, carefully peel the outer rind of the lemons, avoiding the bitter white pith underneath.

Combine with Carrier Oil: Place the lemon peels into a clean glass jar. Pour your chosen carrier oil over the peels until they are fully submerged. The oil acts as a base and helps extract the beneficial oils from the lemon peel.

Infusion Process: Seal the jar tightly and place it in a warm, sunny spot. Let it infuse for about 1-2 weeks. Shake the jar gently every couple of days to help the lemon peels release their oils into the carrier oil.

Strain the Oil: After 1-2 weeks, strain the oil using a cheesecloth or fine-mesh strainer to remove the lemon peels from the oil. If you’d like, you can add a few drops of Vitamin E oil to help preserve the lemon oil.

Store the Lemon Oil: Transfer the strained oil into a clean bottle or jar and store it in a cool, dark place. The oil should last for several months when properly stored.
