Introduction
Sore throats are a common discomfort caused by everything from seasonal allergies to viral infections. Instead of reaching for over-the-counter solutions, nature offers an effective alternative: cloves. Rich in eugenol, a powerful natural antiseptic and anti-inflammatory compound, cloves have been used for centuries in traditional medicine. This simple clove-based remedy is designed to soothe throat irritation, reduce swelling, and support the body’s natural healing process — all with ingredients you likely already have at home.
Ingredients
5–6 whole cloves
1 cup of water
1 teaspoon raw honey (optional, for added soothing and antibacterial effects)
1 small cinnamon stick (optional, for flavor and added anti-inflammatory properties)
1 slice of fresh ginger (optional, for a warming, immune-supporting boost)
Directions
Boil the water in a small saucepan over medium heat.
Once boiling, add the cloves (and optional ginger and cinnamon, if using).
Simmer gently for 10–15 minutes, allowing the ingredients to infuse.
Remove from heat and let the liquid cool slightly.
Strain into a cup, removing all solids.
If desired, stir in raw honey once the tea has cooled enough to be warm but not hot (to preserve the honey’s beneficial properties).
Sip slowly while warm.
