Introduction
Move over guacamole—there’s a new avocado sensation taking over kitchens and cookouts alike. Grilled avocados are emerging as a bold culinary trend, combining smoky flavor with creamy texture for a dish that’s both simple and sophisticated. Whether you’re serving them as a starter, stuffing them for a hearty main, or slicing them into salads, grilled avocados add a gourmet twist to any meal. Let’s dive into why these charred green gems are earning a permanent spot on the modern table.
Ingredients: (Serves 2–4)
2 ripe but firm avocados
1 tablespoon olive oil
Juice of ½ lime
½ teaspoon smoked paprika
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional toppings: crumbled feta, diced tomatoes, fresh cilantro, red pepper flakes
Directions:
Prep the Avocados: Cut each avocado in half lengthwise and remove the pit. Leave the skin on.
Season: In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, lime juice, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper. Brush the mixture over the cut side of the avocados.
Grill: Heat a grill or grill pan to medium-high. Place avocados cut side down and grill for 2–3 minutes, or until grill marks appear and the surface is lightly charred.
Serve: Remove from the grill and fill or top with your favorite additions like salsa, beans, cheese, or even a poached egg.
Serving and Storage Tips:
Serve Warm: Grilled avocados taste best when served immediately while the smoky flavor is fresh.
Storage: If you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 1 day. Note: The texture may soften further and browning may occur.
Meal Pairing Ideas: Pair with grilled chicken, quinoa bowls, or toast for a well-rounded meal.
