Ingredients:
1 lb (450g) beef (flank steak or sirloin works best), thinly sliced
2 cups broccoli florets
8 oz (225g) noodles (egg noodles or rice noodles work well)
2 tablespoons vegetable oil
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 tablespoon ginger, grated
1/4 cup soy sauce
2 tablespoons oyster sauce
1 tablespoon hoisin sauce
1 tablespoon cornstarch
1/4 cup beef broth (or water)
1 tablespoon sesame oil
1 teaspoon sugar (optional, for sweetness)
Salt and pepper to taste
Optional garnish: sesame seeds, chopped green onions
Directions:
Prepare the noodles: Cook the noodles according to the package instructions. Once cooked, drain and set aside. If using rice noodles, make sure to soak them in hot water until tender.
Cook the broccoli: In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the broccoli florets and stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until tender but still crisp. Remove the broccoli from the pan and set it aside.
Stir-fry the beef: In the same skillet, add another tablespoon of oil. Once hot, add the sliced beef in a single layer. Let it cook for about 2-3 minutes until browned on one side, then flip and cook the other side for another 2 minutes. Remove the beef from the pan and set aside.
Prepare the sauce: In a small bowl, mix together soy sauce, oyster sauce, hoisin sauce, beef broth, cornstarch, sesame oil, and sugar (if using). Stir well to combine until the cornstarch dissolves.
Combine all ingredients: Add the garlic and grated ginger to the skillet and sauté for about 30 seconds until fragrant. Return the beef and broccoli to the pan. Pour the prepared sauce over the beef and broccoli and toss to coat evenly. Let the sauce simmer for 2-3 minutes to thicken.
Add the noodles: Add the cooked noodles to the pan, tossing everything together until the noodles are well coated with the sauce. Season with salt and pepper to taste.
Serve: Garnish with sesame seeds and chopped green onions for added flavor and presentation.
Serving and Storage Tips:
Serving: Serve the Beef and Broccoli Noodles hot as a complete meal. Pair it with a side of steamed rice or enjoy it on its own. You can also drizzle a little extra sesame oil on top before serving for added flavor.
Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Reheat thoroughly before serving. If reheating in the microwave, add a tablespoon of water to prevent the noodles from drying out. You can also freeze this dish for up to 1 month, though the texture of the noodles may change slightly upon reheating.
