Introduction
Dark circles have long been my skincare nemesis—those pesky shadows under my eyes that scream “I haven’t slept in years” even when I’ve clocked a solid eight hours. Desperate for a natural remedy, I stumbled across a quirky beauty hack: using banana peel to fade dark circles. Skeptical but curious, I decided to test it out for a full week. Here’s my honest experience—results, routine, and a few surprises along the way.
Ingredients
1 ripe banana (organic preferred)
Cotton pads or reusable eye patches (optional)
A small container for peel storage
(Optional) A drop of almond oil or aloe vera gel
Instructions
Select and Prep
Choose a ripe banana—preferably organic to avoid pesticide residue. Peel the banana and eat the fruit (a delicious bonus). Set the inner side of the peel aside.
Application
Gently scrape the white inner flesh of the peel using a spoon. Apply this directly to clean, dry under-eye skin, or cut a small section of the peel and place it under your eyes like patches.
Leave On
Let it sit for 15–20 minutes. You may feel a cooling, tightening sensation—normal and even soothing.
Rinse and Moisturize
Wash off gently with lukewarm water. Pat dry and apply your favorite eye cream or a dab of coconut oil.
Repeat
For best results, I repeated this nightly for 7 days straight.
Serving and Storage Tips
Store unused banana peels in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 2 days.
To avoid oxidation, wrap peel portions in plastic wrap or place them between layers of damp paper towel.
Cold banana peels offer additional de-puffing benefits due to their cooling effect.
