Introduction: Bread-making can often seem like a time-consuming process requiring kneading, resting, and precision. But what if you could bake a fresh loaf of homemade bread with minimal effort? This easy-to-make, no-knead bread recipe allows you to skip the laborious kneading step while still achieving a deliciously soft and crusty loaf. Whether you're a beginner baker or just looking for a low-maintenance recipe, this no-knead bread is the perfect solution for creating warm, aromatic bread with minimal work.
Ingredients:
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon salt
1 teaspoon instant yeast
1 1/2 cups warm water (around 110°F or 43°C)
1 tablespoon honey or sugar (optional, for a slight sweetness)
1 tablespoon olive oil (optional, for extra flavor)
Instructions:
Combine dry ingredients: In a large bowl, mix the flour, salt, and instant yeast. If you're using honey or sugar, add it to the warm water and stir until dissolved.
Add liquid: Slowly pour the warm water (and oil if using) into the dry ingredients. Stir until the dough comes together, and there are no dry spots left. The dough will be sticky and shaggy, which is perfectly fine!
Let it rise: Cover the bowl with a clean kitchen towel or plastic wrap. Leave the dough to rise at room temperature for about 12 to 18 hours (overnight is ideal). The dough will double in size and develop bubbles on the surface.
Shape the dough: Once the dough has risen, turn it out onto a floured surface. Gently fold the dough over itself a couple of times to form a rough ball shape. Do not knead the dough, just work it gently.
Preheat the oven: About 30 minutes before baking, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a Dutch oven or large oven-safe pot with a lid inside to heat up.
Bake the bread: Carefully remove the hot pot from the oven and place the dough inside. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for an additional 10-15 minutes to brown the top.
Cool and serve: Let the bread cool on a wire rack before slicing and serving. Enjoy the warm, homemade loaf with butter or your favorite spread!
Tips for serving and storing:
Serving suggestions: This no-knead bread pairs perfectly with soups, stews, salads, or as a simple accompaniment to butter and jam.
Storing leftovers: If you have leftover bread, store it in a paper bag or breadbox at room temperature for up to 3 days. For longer storage, slice the bread and freeze it. Just toast the slices when you're ready to enjoy them.
