Introduction: In our household, pizza isn’t just a meal—it’s an event. My Texas hubby, known for his hearty appetite, can easily devour 10 slices all by himself! This recipe is inspired by the bold flavors and robust ingredients of Texas, making it the perfect choice for pizza lovers looking to spice up their dinner routine. Whether you're feeding a crowd or indulging in a little Texas-sized feast, this pizza will surely satisfy your cravings with its smoky, cheesy, and savory goodness.
Ingredients:
1 pizza dough (store-bought or homemade)
1 cup BBQ sauce (preferably smoky)
2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup cooked and crumbled bacon
1/2 pound smoked sausage or chorizo, sliced
1 small red onion, thinly sliced
1/2 cup pickled jalapeños, sliced
1/2 cup roasted corn (fresh or frozen)
1/2 cup diced bell peppers (optional)
Fresh cilantro leaves, for garnish
Instructions:
Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 475°F (245°C). If you have a pizza stone, place it in the oven to heat up as well.
Prepare the pizza dough: Roll out the pizza dough on a floured surface to your desired thickness. If you prefer a crispy crust, make it thinner; for a chewy crust, roll it out a little thicker.
Assemble the pizza: Spread a thin layer of BBQ sauce over the pizza dough, leaving a small border for the crust. Sprinkle the mozzarella and cheddar cheeses evenly over the sauce.
Add the toppings: Layer on the crumbled bacon, sausage slices, red onion, pickled jalapeños, roasted corn, and bell peppers. Feel free to adjust the quantity of toppings based on your personal preferences.
Bake: Slide the pizza onto a baking sheet or preheated pizza stone and bake for about 12-15 minutes, or until the crust is golden brown and the cheese is bubbly and melted.
Garnish and serve: Once out of the oven, sprinkle fresh cilantro leaves over the pizza. Slice it up and enjoy your Texas-inspired creation!
Tips for Serving and Storing:
Serving: This pizza pairs wonderfully with a cold glass of iced tea or a light lager beer. If you're serving a crowd, consider pairing it with a side of crunchy slaw or a fresh salad to balance out the richness of the pizza.
Storing: Leftover pizza can be stored in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. To reheat, place the slices on a baking sheet in a preheated 375°F (190°C) oven for 8-10 minutes, or until heated through and the crust crisps up again.
